41. Case Study Open for discussion
Hank Johnson had a right hip replaced at St. Marks Hospital in 2007.
Upon completion of his surgery, Hank Johnson was required to stay in the
hospital for one week.
Mr. Johnson frequently had to go the bathroom and was told by the nursing
staff that he was not to get out of bed without assistance.
Mr. Johnson acknowledged. The following day, Mr. Johnson called the
nursing station for assistance, but a nurse was not available to assist
Mr. Johnson at that moment.
Mr. Johnson took it upon himself to get out of bed to go to the bathroom
and in the process fell and this time broke his left hip.
Mr. Johnson is claiming negligence on the part of the hospital for failing
to assist him timely, which resulted in Mr. Johnson having to get out of bed to
go the bathroom unassisted..
Mr. Johnson does not have an attorney at this time and is asking the
Hospital to compensate him for his injury to his left hip injury .
